This is the sort of car we feel so privileged to be entrusted to market for one of our customer’s.
The present owner is the 4th custodian of this early and rare 4.2 E-type Coupe.
Supplied new in late 64, this car was the 42nd 4.2 Jaguar off the line at Brown’s Lane and therefore features some of the nicer details of the 3.8 E-type, but with the improved braking, cooling and close ratio gearbox of the series 1 4.2’s.
From the due diligence, we have ascertained that this car’s chassis and body numbers confirm that the car was in effect one of the changeover / prototype 4.2’s on the cusp of the main production from the 3.8 series cars.
Its chassis number pre-dates the suffix 1E which came about for the ongoing production of the series 1 4.2 cars.
This E-type underwent a thorough body and mechanical restoration in 2004, with the emphasis on retaining as much as the original panels and metalwork as possible. The work was carried out by Derek Watson (WATJAG LTD) a respected E-type restoration company.
There is a good photographic record of the restoration together with supporting invoices, this only being a small part of the car’s significant history.
The documentation for this car is exceptional, especially for its early years, service invoices from 1965, one of which details that the metal stamped GB plate was supplied and fitted by the Jaguar dealership!
It has its original service book, a good amount of supporting service invoices and MOT history.
The restoration is thoroughly documented and shows that the restoration centred around keeping the car original.
