Description

Arguably the best iteration of the E-type, the Series 1 4.2l.

Benefitting from Jaguar’s early design silhouette yet with the revised engine, gearbox, upgraded cooling and braking system, the Series 1 4.2 really packs a punch on the road.

You might wonder if there is much difference in performance from a 3.8l to a 4.2l E Type, well having driven many versions of each, jumping back into a 4.2l always surprises me by how much torque there is on tap.

Marry this to one of the best gearboxes from the 1960’s, Jaguar’s own gearbox, which replaced the old ā€œMoss Boxā€ to the driving experience and the performance gap in real terms, is much greater than just the increased power.

This particular example has had just 5 registered keepers from new, and has it Heritage Certificate present which confirms that it is ā€˜matching numbers’, and a UK RHD supplied car.

A recent bare metal respray to a very high standard in the ever-popular Dark Blue over Red, this E Type presents beautifully and drives just as well, having been fully reviewed by our experienced race E-Type engineer.

Adding to the car’s already formidable road presence are the wider chrome wheels, which give the car a more hunkered-down look, whilst increasing traction.

In the file is a stack of MOT’s dating back to the mid 1970’s, the car’s Heritage Certificate, the original chassis plate, operating and service handbook, and invoices from across the ages for the car’s maintenance and restoration.
